Putting a Security freeze on a credit report does not stop you from requesting your own personal credit report from the credit bureaus. It only stops from new creditors and lenders from viewing your credit report without the permission and without lifting the freeze first by using the special pin number issued to you during the time of implementing the Security freeze. The same holds true for any credit monitoring service that you might be using. A credit monitoring service is recognized by the credit reporting system as being equal to the individual requesting their own credit report. It is also important to note that your existing creditors may also be able to view your credit report in spite of the Security freeze in order to update and maintain your credit account with them.
